One of the highlights that you should not miss is to sit down and marvel at the magnificent orange skies as the sun sets between some of Bangkok’s most iconic buildings, while sipping a glass of your favorite cocktail. It’s a great pleasure you will never understand until you experience it yourself.
At Saffron Sky Garden, the menu revolves around local Thai ingredients to create a Modern Thai Street Food, mostly finger food. Though the food will be artfully presented in a modern style, the ingredients and flavors still remain fully Thai. All the dishes here are created by Chef Renu Homsombat, Corporate Thai Chef of Banyan Tree Cuisine at Banyan Tree Bangkok. She is also the one who is in charge of the food at the Saffron Thai Restaurants at Banyan Tree resorts across the world.
Today, Chef Renu has recommended some of the best dishes you should definitely try when visiting Saffron Sky Garden which include:
Massaman Spring Rolls, Sweet Chili Sauce
The crispy fried spring rolls are tastefully stuffed with Massaman curry, giving the spring rolls savory taste and sensational aroma from herbs and spice. It is served in a tiny basket with a bottle of sweet chili sauce. At Saffron Sky Garden, Chef Renu has transformed the Massaman curry into a delicious finger food while keeping its original flavor. You won’t need steamed rice for this. Just clean your hands before enjoying them.
Grilled Eggplant, Crab Meat Salad, Coconut Dressing
Chef Renu has creatively reinterpreted the classic Thai Grilled Eggplant and it is absolutely stunning! Beautifully garnished with lotus petals, the grilled eggplant comes in a glass with a light salad consisting of fresh jumbo lump crab meat and coconut dressing topped with soft-boiled quail egg, caviar, and gold leaf. It offers a refinement in taste and texture with a combination of all the first grade ingredients.
Spicy Squid Leg Larb Spices, Chili Mayo-Sauce
Another simple menu with an astounding depth in flavor is the golden-fried squid tentacles made spicy and tangy with chili flakes, lemongrass, fish sauce, kaffir leaves, and lime juice. It is sprinkled with toasted sticky rice for crusty texture and roasted fragrance as well as sliced shallots and chilies to complete the larb flavors. Eat it together with the sour mayo dipping sauce and you won’t be able to stop.
Crispy Spicy Chicken in Wonton
Bringing Thailand’s most beloved dish ‘Pad Krapow’ to another level, Chef Renu has taken the original taste and texture of Thai basil chicken to create a tempting filling for the crispy wonton. Served with sweet plum sauce, the richness and spiciness of the menu blend seamlessly with the sweetness of the sauce. You might think it looks a bit boring, but don’t let its appearances fool you! This food is remarkable
Slow Cooked Beef, Longan & Spices
Of the Saffron Sky Garden’s house specialties, the beef is slow cooked for 6 hours with longan and spices until smooth and completely melted. Soaked up the sauce and seasoning nicely, the beef is so luscious and the taste goes all the way through each bite. The food is served on the spoon with shallot chips and cherry tomatoes as an accompaniment.
Apart from these modern Thai tapas, you can also order the heartier dishes from Saffron Thai Restaurant to try as well. Highlights include Pad Thai Goong Sod, Massaman Nua, Tom Kha Goong, and much more—all come with herb steamed rice.
Saffron Sky Garden also offers an extended range of spirits, beers, and wines—as well as cocktails that are exclusively created for Saffron Sky Garden. Most of them are inspired by the Thai flavors and the fragrance of Thai flowers, herbs, and of course food!
Vodka, Malibu, Lime Juice, Syrup, Chili, Kaffir Lime
This vodka-based menu is outstanding with aromatic Tom Yum herbs and spices like chili, kaffir lime, and lime juice, as well as a shot of Malibu for a cocktail that’s refreshing and comforting.
1800 Tequila, Phraya Thai Rum, Maraschino Liqueur, Butterfly Pea Syrup, Grapefruit, Lemon, Tonic
Purple Royale uses Phraya Thai Rum, 1800 Tequila, and Maraschino Liqueur as main ingredients and mixes them with butterfly pea syrup, grapefruit, lemon, and tonic as a finishing touch. This vivid-colored cocktail is sweet and easy to drink, a perfect treat for a sophisticated lady.
