Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok will celebrate the Vegetarian Food Festival by offering an array of flavourful meat-free dim sum and a la carte dishes at Shang Palace and à la carte dishes highlighting organic vegetables at Salathip from 1 to 9 October 2016.
The festival and its accompanying sacred rituals are believed to bestow good fortune on its observers, who have to adhere to a stringent ‘Jay’ diet devoid of all animal products and strong tasting herbs and spices for several days to promote spiritual cleansing.
Shang Palace’s experienced Executive Chef Chow Wai Man will carefully select quality non-meat produce and vegetables to cook up vegetarian dishes containing plant-based proteins and meat substitutes. Guests who would like to abstain from meat and various stimulants during this nine-day special promotion may indulge in the vegetarian dim sum dishes for lunch, such as Steamed Rice Roll with Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Vegetarian BBQ Pork Buns and Vegetarian Mushroom and Corn Dumplings, priced at Bt128++ per dish. Alternatively, savour special à la carte dishes for dinner priced from Bt280++ to Bt480++ per dish. A creative blend of tempting vegetarian dishes includes Deep-Fried Taro Fish served with Sweet and Sour Sauce, Braised Spinach Soup with Bean Curd, Braised Bean Curd with Enoki Mushroom and a Vegetarian Dim Sum Platter.
Chef Sutthaporn Chulavachana, Chef de Cuisine of Salathip will prepare vegetarian dishes in creative ways for dinner during the same period from 1 to 9 October 2016. All dishes are brimming with delicious Thai taste, well cooked with spices and Thai herbs and fresh ingredients like organic vegetables. Delectable dishes include Laab Hed Jae, Som Tum Sarai, Yam Makue Yao Goong, Mieng Pla Sod, Ped Takrai Kra Ta Roan, and more. Prices range from Bt160++ to Bt240++ per dish.
