Located on the lobby level of the hotel, the Lobby Lounge offers a breathtaking view of the river and the city’s skylines through the floor-to-ceiling transparent windows in a pleasant and tranquil atmosphere. The ambience is further enhanced by the soothing rhythmic melodies from a remarkable harpist from Shanghai, Tongjuan Wang, who has been performing as a solo artist for over 30 years. (The performance is from 4pm to 5.45pm, every Tuesday to Saturday).
Recently joined Shangri-La Hotel Bangkok a few months ago, the city’s superstar maître pâtissier Chef Claus Olsen, whose philosophy of cooking is to serve premium products from premium ingredients in a premium way, has introduced his delicate creations representing his exquisite Danish baking heritage with his “simple is nice and nice is simple” concept.
A variety of flavorful treats arrive in a beautiful golden birdcage highlighting 3 platters of signature sweets and savory bites.
The first one comes with flavorful desserts which include Raspberry Lipstick, Studded Lemon filled Trumpet High Heel, Chocolate Caramel Fleur de Sel, Double Crème Brûlée Tart, Blueberry Panna Cotta, Hand Bag Lollipops, Fudge Mille Feuille, and the chef’s recommended Shang O Bar filled with 6 layers of premium ingredients, crafted beautifully with the spectacular combination of textures and tastes from each component.
Next is the platter consisting of two different flavors of the meticulously-made scones, Vanilla Scone and Blackcurrant Scone. The smooth, flaky scones with the buttery scent are served together with Rose Lychee Jam, Clotted Cream, and Pineapple and Madagascar Vanilla Jam, plus Cherry and Pistachio Sugar Choux that also goes well with the delightful dips.
The savory items here are as good as its tempting desserts. Try Nova Scotia Lump King Crab with Pink Brioche, a tender crumb pinky pastel bun filled with a natural sweet crab meat; or Squid Ink Bialy Nova Scotia Salmon British Cucumber accented with Season Cream Cheese, a black bialy stuffed with fresh salmon, cucumber, and mild-tasting cheese that perfectly integrate the beauty of flavors.
Other savories include Riceberry and Garden Herb Philadelphia Cheese, Radish and Honey Roasted Ham, Fillo Crown stuffed with Garden Herb Roasted Duck Griotte, Slow Smoked Chicken Breasts and Avocado encaged in Black and White Sesame Brioche, and Tasmania Bay Scallops Micro Green Honey Mustard Bacon Chips.
