From British upper-class tradition to nowadays famous afternoon to early evening activity, Afternoon Tea (Known as High Tea) became a social event for many major cities around the world including Bangkok. Afternoon Tea became the bridge between meals where you can enjoy various kinds of delicate savories and sweets from the trolley while having a social gathering around this meal. Taken as a treat in a hotel and tea house, high tea becomes more casual and friendly in which the characteristic of each place is often present in its treat. Today Great Gastro will bring you another lovely high tea experience at Vertigo TOO.
We visit Vertigo TOO once again in a different atmosphere in which a chic and playful restaurant were turned into a relaxing place in a day time. Offers a sublime bar experience on the 60th floor, Banyan Tree Bangkok, the restaurant featured a big glass window with stunning views of Bangkok’s cityscape on the left-hand side and the Chao Phraya River on the right. Once you arrive, the guests can choose whether you would love to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere with sofa seat and pillow or a standard dining tables and chairs in the middle of the restaurant. Vertigo TOO makes you afternoon tea experience become even lovelier with life acoustic band from 14.00 onward.
Pick your seat then have a look at a menu, Vertigo TOO’s afternoon tea set is available for 1-2 persons at a price of 1,250++ In this set, you can choose your favorite tea from Ronnefeldt collection. What we love the most from 9 different types of tea presented by the stuff is Assam Earl Gray. This well-known black tea comes with lovely aroma smell than usual. However if you happen to be more into flora, Red Roses can make you a good company with the strong rose smell (quite hard to find in Bangkok). Another choice for those who love freshly refreshing, how about a glass of tropical smell of Mango Dream?
The high tea starts with ‘cookie of the day’, a smell catchy starter before the meal. What we have today is a fresh baked crunchy cornflake cookie served with fresh berries: strawberry, Blueberry, and Raspberry.
The savories include a freshly Poached Lobster Salad & Tom Yum Dressing. A mince Poached Lobster mixed in sour and spicy Tom Yum salad dressing. Served on a scallop’s shell, an herbal smell from sauce light up the taste of Lobster to another level. Our next dish goes a bit Asian with Chicken Tikka in Pita Bread Pocket. It’s quite special to find such a traditional Indian delight in High Rea set. However, a stir-fried chicken in Indian spices is, of course, season up our meal.
The set also features a 4 freshly cut of sandwiches: Baked Gammon Ham Sandwich & Homemade Chili Jam, a tender salty Gammon ham with Vertigo TOO’s signature hot and chilly spicy jam. Egg Mayonnaise Sandwich, a big cut of fresh whole weed bread filled with egg mayonnaise and thickly salad dressing. Cucumber & Cheddar Sandwich with Beetroot Bread, a red color of beetroot going well with sweet cucumber sauce and salty cheddar cheese. Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Sandwich, bite-sized portions of roll sandwich with creamy cream cheese spread in pet dropper and smoked salmon.
Scone is always the main idea of High Tea. Vertigo TOO served this single-serving cake in 2 types: Traditional Scone and Black Raisin Scone in which this classic kind of cookies are Moist, tender and added with black sweet raisin. Scone is lightly sweetened, so you might want to season up with some clotted cream, strawberry jam, and butter. It’s always a good idea to mix a creamy clotted cream with sour and sweet strawberry, then this basic combination is ready to take you to heaven.
Alongside a delectable choice of tea, the sweet collection for Vertigo TOO’s high tea includes Blueberry Macaroon, a coveted cookie filled with sweet blueberry cream and fresh blueberry. Rose Wine Jelly & Fruit, a fresh jelly served with a berry in rose wine syrup. Opera Cake, made with layers of sponge cake layered with chocolate and coffee buttercream. Pastry Cup & Chocolate Mousse, a soft and tender waffle cup filled with sticky bittersweet chocolate mousse. This fabulous Afternoon tea delights also include Fruit Tartlet, Strawberries & Crème Anglaise, a small crunchy chocolate tart filled with Crème Anglaise (a light pouring custard), then topped up with sour berries.
The drinking of tea not only a social event, Vertigo TOO present a colourful set of High Tea in relaxing atmosphere. What we love the most is a creative idea of sweet in which featuring in both taste and appearance. The finest collection of German tea house, Ronnefeldt, is an excellent combination of all kinds.
