Revered as one of Bangkok’s best restaurant for authentic Italian cuisine, a long-established Italian restaurant, Spasso, located on the lower lobby floor of Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, entices Italian palates with a great selection of scrumptious Italian dishes from regional specialties, antipasto to pasta and wood-fired pizzas, created by a new Chef de Cuisine Roberto Parentela, who brings with him years of experience through Italy and southern France.
Intriguing Dining and Entertainment Venue
Spasso welcomes diners with a checkerboard-tile floor and a white-washed wall lined with photos of top music artists and bands that used to perform here, giving a playful touch at the entrance. Upon entering, the shoe is on the other foot. The path which lead to the main area reveals the glamorous wooden bar on the wooden floor with the wooden stools, as well as dining tables with white linen tablecloths. The natural hue of the timber that exudes a warm, welcoming atmosphere is enhanced by vibrant neon color lights from the dancefloor, along with the stage for live music gigs every night.
Tempting Menu to Nourish The Heart
Born and raised with a passion for Italian cuisine, Chef Roberto has created a tempting Italian menu, influenced from culinary traditions and ingredients of his hometowns, which is perfectly complemented with an excellent global wine list carefully selected by the restaurant’s skillful sommelier.
Simply delicious with a dedication to quality, the Gli Antipasti dello Spasso features three small-sized tantalizing appetizers, including Vitello tonnato all antica, a delicate and delightful slow-cooked veal loin, with Piedmont-style tuna sauce, roasted capsicum, and caper; Insalata di capesante, a tender piece of seared scallop with local baby spinach, pumpkin and truffle puree, and sour cream; and Burratina, a fresh local burrata cheese on roasted cherry tomato topped with almond, and Sicilian oregano.
Chef Roberto is just as precise with his pasta. Made in-house from scratch, the Sardinia-style Ravioli Coulurgiones arrives with fresh homemade pasta dough filled with savory lamb ragout in rich, smooth pecorino cream that offers a buttery and nutty flavor. It is then sprinkled with toasted fennel seeds for more earthy and aromatic flavor.
Chef Roberto has also kept up the traditional menu from his hometown in Sardinia on the menu with the Maialino al forno, a traditional whole baked Sardinian suckling pig. The meat is juicy, flavorful and so soft it melts in the mouth—without being too gelatinous, while the skin is incredibly crisp and flavor packed. It is presented with potato, artichokes, and Cannonau wine gravy as an excellent accompanying act.
Satisfying treat to cap off the meal, an Italian dolce of the Sicily region, Cannolo, is heavenly delicious with a crunchy tube of pastry filled with a mild, soft mascarpone cream, served together with refreshing pistachio ice cream, pistachio crust, and cherry sauce.
Diners can also enjoy an authentic Italian buffet lunch with an endless antipasti table, available from Monday to Saturday, priced at B895++. On Sundays, go for the restaurant’s “Best Italian” Brunch featuring organic salad buffet from the hotel’s farm, a wide selection of Italian specialties and dessert at THB 1400++.
Conveniently situated in the heart of the city, Spasso at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok is a perfect spot for discerning diners who yearn for authentic Italian cuisine, unique cocktails, and live music. And with the arrival of the new Chef de Cuisine Roberto Parentela, guests will certainly leave the restaurant feeling satisfied with their memorable dining experience.
