For this special meal, you could choose to enjoy at 4 restaurants: VIU restaurant for a classic atmosphere with The Royal Bangkok Sports Club horse racing’s scenery, The Drawing Room for the Astor’s living room’s, Decanter for a wine cellar’s, or at The St. Regis Bar for a bar atmosphere with Bangkok skyline.
After choosing the right table, it’s time to explore the food at every corner of the 4 restaurants.
– VIU –
Starting with VIU restaurant, their Antipasti surely has various line: Jojo’s restaurant premium cold cut with various side dishes, Salad bar which you can choose your ingredients before it is mixed in a giant Parmesan Cheese Wheel, and prepared salad variations like Tuna Salad, Seafood Salad, Caprese Salad, Strawberry Salad, Lamb Salad or Grilled Vegetable Salad.
At the next corner, I would like to name it “A La Minute Italian Treat.” Freshly baked pizza from oven and DIY pasta are ready to be served.
Walking towards the back of the open kitchen you will see the soft bread with butter and soup of the day ready to be served. Today’s soup is creamy Mushroom Soup, Singapore Chili Crab Soup, and piquant Fish Maw Soup.
Next station is the Hot Pot that Jojo fans shouldn’t miss! The cheesy Alfredo Pasta with cream sauce is located next to Seafood Soup and Beef Stew. The salty stew is cooked in a slow-cooked technique that having it with jasmine rice has just made my day! Having it with baked potatoes is also another option as well.
Next is Maid-To-Order Main Courses. Chef Matthew Woolford will select a special menu of the week to serve you. Today I have Foie Gras served with Yellow Peach and Tomato Relish sauce. The Foie Gras is seared and put on Brioche before poured with the peachy, sweet and sour sauce.
The next menu is Poached Egg with Lobster in an Egg Benedict style. This breakfast-lookalike is well prepared and served on Poppy Seed Bagel and a big piece of Lobster, along with Hollandaise sauce garnished with Caviar.
The last menu is Asian style Teriyaki Saba Fish. The thick Saba Fish is perfectly grilled topped with sweet Teriyaki sauce.
The next corner is the Craving. Roasted Beef with baked tomatoes and potatoes, gravy, and other sauces are ready to be served.
The highlight of this room is the Grilled. Lobster, Tiger Prawn, Salmon, and Chorizo Sausage will be grilled at your favorite Doneness. Your plate will be served with their matching sauce, or you could also pick the sauce at your choice.
The next corner features an impressive selection of dishes from Asian, including Thai, Chinese and Japanese. Thai section offering a various kind of daily hot dishes served with hot steaming jasmine rice. A menu is including Steamed Fish in Lemon Sauce, Stir-fried Seafood in Hot Chili Sauce and Massaman curry. There is also Pad Thai Lobster, another signature item you shouldn’t miss. Once again I was totally impressed by local flavors cooked by foreigner chef at an international buffet.
While a Chinese selection, which includes a fine selection of Dim Sum, a crispy skin Peking duck with sweet sauce and pancake, a tender roasted red pork, suckling pig, crispy pork, and crispy rice, is impressive, what also makes Asia corner complete is Japanese food. Diners can choose from unlimited sushi and sashimi, in which Lobster sashimi is a highlight. A Japanese snack such as Takoyaki with different sauce is also joined in this section.
In the next room, Seafood on Ice awaited. Featuring such delicacies as Alaska king crab legs, fresh Lobster and premium size Oyster Fin De Clair. Seafood offerings for brunch, including steamed Lobster, Squid and Tiger Prawn with spicy seafood sauce.
You will find the caviar trolley which serves you a variety of caviar, made to order. For salmons lover, there is a pink salmon beetroot marinate for your appetite here too.
– Decanter –
Follow me to a Decanter line, a dream to all cheese lovers. Offering more than 20 kinds of cheese and side dish (Ham, nut, dried fruit, bread, jam, and honey), guest can choose a type of cheese they like and have a professional advice to pair it up with side dishes and wine.
– The Drawing Room –
Just remember to save room for dessert: The Drawing Room is sure to have something for every sweet tooth. From ice-cream to Chocolate Truffle, this bountiful buffet features 8 flavors of ice-cream (including champagne flavor), a ginger gelato, a chocolate fondue and a Thai traditional dessert (mango sticky rice, sweet bean confections and golden threads).
– The St.Regis Bar –
What truly makes the buffet stand apart from other Brunches in the area is the premium quality of free flow drinks such as Moët & Chandon 2006 Grand Vintage and a selected wine collection, which are Terrazas de los Andes, Reserva Chardonnay 2014 (White wine) and Cape Mentelle, Trinders Caberbet Sauvignon-Merlot 2014 (Red wine). Be sure to try, Siam Marry, a signature drink from The St. Regis Bangkok. This tasty cocktail inspired by a local taste of sea bass spicy salad and martini. Guests can enjoy unlimited food and cordials for 3 hours.
The St. Regis Bangkok’s Monthly Mega Brunch may not be the newest or biggest buffet in Bangkok, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still one of the best. Open on Sunday, the charming buffet consistently surprises diners with its taste, quality, atmosphere and service. Guests can dine in a charming setting while feasting upon such delicious dishes. What impressed me the most is a high-class service from a professional staff who are there to help you when you need them. If you like a buffet and want to spend your last Sunday of the month in style, The St.Regis Bangkok is a right answer.
